Onward Living backs national Shared Ownership campaign
August 22, 2019 | Laura WhittleWe’re delighted to be supporting the National Housing Federation’s new Shared Ownership campaign which launches this October.
The campaign will boost the profile of shared ownership across the country on a scale that’s never been seen before. It’s aimed at raising awareness of the product and putting an end to the confusion around what shared ownership actually means.
Onward Living, the sales arm of Onward, will be backing the campaign to help spread the word on one of the most affordable ways to buy a home.
Shared Ownership a great way for potential customers to buy a home, without having to save up for a huge deposit. It’s the perfect solution for many people who cannot afford to buy on the open market, such as first-time buyers, downsizers and growing families.
It allows you to put down a smaller deposit and mortgage, based on what you can afford – this can range between 25% and 75% of the overall property value. You then pay a small amount of rent on the part you don’t own. Once you can afford to buy more shares, you can ‘staircase’ up to owning 100%, with no rent at all! Sandy Kelly, head of sales at Onward, said:
“As a provider of shared ownership homes in the North West, we’re thrilled to be supporting this fantastic campaign.
“We are building more shared ownership homes than ever before and this campaign will help us to unlock more affordable homes to those who need them most.
“I have no doubt that it will very quickly have a positive impact and start to increase awareness and understanding of shared ownership amongst the public.”
